Chef and former Lakeshore Catholic High School graduate Matty Matheson never thought “New York Times best-selling author” would be a title that he held.
However, when the Fort Colborne native’s cookbook hit shelves in October, that’s exactly the title that he earned when his book landed at number 10 spot on the New York Times best-seller list.
“The whole thing is just wild, and humbling,” said Matty, remembering when he found out that his book made it onto the list. “I just went up to my hotel room, just laid there and took it in.”
His cookbook — aptly titled Matty Matheson: A Cookbook — is a mixture of haute cuisine and family recipes because Matty wants everyone, regardless of skill-level and available time, to get cooking.
“If you are a big dog, a medium dog, a small dog, if you’ve never cooked, if you know how to cook, I hope there’s going to be something you see that inspires you to want to cook,“ said Matty.
In addition to best-selling books, Matty also has also appeared on hit cooking shows It’s Suppertime! and Dead Set on Life and is travelling the world in order to promote his book.
