Staff from St. Thomas More Catholic School couldn’t believe the student enthusiasm when putting together donations to help Kingston’s less fortunate.
hirty students from grades 2 to 8 with two teacher supervisors put together the project to support their local community. The school community donated large bags of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes and mouthwash to help others in need.
“The kids always respond to charity with such kindness and love,” said Michael Arsenault, principal of St. Thomas More Catholic School. “It’s amazing to watch. I haven’t seen a community so caring about other people.”
The social justice committee spent a full day packaging the donations, led by teachers Karen Canning and Tina Castro. The packages were then sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Society who distributed them to local shelters around Kingston.
When we commit to making a difference in our local communities, we build communities of faith. Ontario’s Catholic schools foster students who consider the needs of others and find a way to help.
Celebrate the value of Catholic education and share St. Thomas More’s story today.
