Students and staff hosted their annual pancake breakfast at St. John Catholic Elementary School in Beamsville to mark the beginning of the Lenten season.
St. John’s Student Leadership Team typically orders their Pancake Tuesday pancakes from a local supplier, but this year, the group
decided to create a homemade meal for their peers. St. John’s students had delicious pancakes with toppings like maple syrup, strawberries and whipped cream.
“It was amazing! The students and parent volunteers were hard at work all morning,” said Deborah Guthrie, principal at St. John Catholic Elementary School. “This opportunity really gave us a sense of faith through sharing a meal with one another. We were able to make food from scratch and work as a team.”
It was a generous initiative that brought over 400 students, staff and parent volunteers together in celebration of Lent. The pancake breakfast took place before class and through first period in the gymnasium.
