The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) is honouring the important connection between parishes and school communities, proclaiming Friday May 5, 2017 Parish Family Day.

The TCDSB hosted his Eminence Cardinal Thomas Collins at a board meeting to receive the signed proclamation, and reaffirm the importance of the family-parish-school relationship as we work to continually strengthen and nurture Catholic education.

TCDSB will celebrate Parish Family Day at the Catholic Education Centre with representatives from its schools and parishes, gathering for First Friday Mass, and participating in a showcase that will highlight our student’s vision of what makes their parishes and pastors unique.

The Board is encouraging all schools to recognize Parish Family Day through classroom projects and by connecting with their local parishes. This is as an opportunity to show how much we appreciate parish involvement and support in our schools throughout the year. Local events or partnership initiatives are a few ways we can help build community.

School boards like the TCDSB show us how we can each do our part to celebrate the Catholic education community. When we each do our part to come together as a vibrant community, we are building our community of faith.
