“My Catholic values help keep me grounded. My parents, teachers and IB coordinator have been so supportive; I owe a lot of my success to them.”
Stephanie Gaglione was York Catholic District School Board’s top scholar in 2011-2012, graduating from the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at St. Robert Catholic High School in Thornhill.
Stephanie earned a near-perfect, 99.67 per cent average in her top six Grade 12 courses.
Four years later, she is wrapping up her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering at the University of Toronto and was recently awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in England. She is one of 11 Canadian students, and 95 worldwide to win the prestigious award.
Catholic education consistently exceeds and surpasses provincial standards, creating top students who contribute to their community not only academically but also charitably.
Moving forward, Stephanie is interested in drug delivery platforms for low and middle-income countries, continuing to combine her passion for helping others with her research.
It’s students like Stephanie that demonstrate the excellence of Catholic education.
