Alumnus inducted into the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame

Last week, a recent graduate from Saint Michael Catholic High School in the Niagara Region was inducted into the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame for her outstanding achievement in cross-country running, swimming and track and field.

Julianne Miszk, now nineteen-years old, was born with Dubowitz syndrome, a genetic and development disorder. However, despite her cognitive and physical disabilities, nothing could stop the passionate athlete from accomplishing her dreams. Miszk’s refusal to let limitations define her has inspired everyone she knows.

“That kid has some drive in her and something is looking out for her because she is truly remarkable,” said Bernadette Miszk, Julianne’s mother. “She is so tenacious and if she sets her mind to something there is no stopping her.”

The para-athlete has won seven Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association (OFSAA) titles, two provincial silver medals and a bronze medal. She is now one of 258 people to have been honoured by the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame.

Julianne is a testament to our student leaders who teach us determination, passion and to never give up on what we love.

Celebrate students like Julianne Miszk and share this story today.
