'Tis the season of giving

With Christmas fast approaching, it is important to reflect on how we can each give back to those in need. This year, St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School in Woodbridge came together to host the City of Vaughn’s 2017 Toy Drive Launch.

On the morning of November 20th, the entire school community of parents, teachers and students gathered together to collect toys and donations, with a mission to ensure that every local child receives a gift on Christmas morning. The launch was held in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish, one of the largest distributors of toys to those in need in the GTA.feature.jpg

“A heartfelt thank you and appreciation is extended to the parents, family members and support from the Catholic School Council for their incredible response of generosity of donating new unwrapped toys,” said Angela Lomuto-Corriero, Principal at St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School.

Their dedication also touched the heart of City of Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, who thanked the school for helping to make a meaningful impact to their local community.

“Thanks to the help of the St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School community, we launched our annual toy drive with a great head start,” said City of Vaughn Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.  “This is a special time of year and we each have the power to share happiness, comfort and hope for a better tomorrow.”

Ontario’s Catholic schools go above and beyond to give back to their local communities. Over the years, the Vaughan community has brought joy and happiness to thousands of kids on Christmas morning and donated more than $25,000 to those in need.

Celebrate the amazing work of St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School and share this story today.
